Advantage Wound Care
About Us...
Who are we?
We are surgeons with extensive experience in wound care and general and reconstructive surgical technique. We offer professional partnerships with nursing home nurses and caregivers. Employment of doctors' surgical skills, the nurses’ daily presence and care, and their combined experience to remove necrotic and infected tissue, create an optimized healing environment, and a road to speed recovery.
How do we work?
Regularly scheduled visits can be tailored to each facility’s convenience. The visits can be coordinated to allow for discussions with patients’ families or primary care physicians, thus facilitating communication and understanding amongst all interested parties. Communication will be personal and continuous.
The surgeon will provide extensive, computerized, easy to read
documentation of wound etiology (vascular, diabetic, pressure,
infectious), and of the course of healing as the wound improves.
Services
We will provide surgical care for all wound issues (pressure, diabetic, vascular, traumatic, post-operative). Additionally, our surgeons are available to treat most minor surgical issues, such as abscess drainage, or skin lesion/mass biopsy. We perform vascular Doppler studies, and can place/assist/instruct on use of VAC and UNNA boot therapies. All of these procedures are performed at bedside without need for transfer, transportation, or other logistical hassles. Care is provided with nursing staff to tighten communication, coordinate care and synchronize documentation.
Weekly wound care rounds are organized with nursing staff for patient consultation and follow-up. Surgeons are available for emergency consultations outside of these rounds.
Communication with primary care doctors, other surgical consultants, and family is facilitated.
In-service presentations, customized to all levels of nursing care are provided. Ongoing instruction during wound care rounds is continuously provided to nursing staff, students, family members, and, often most importantly, patients.

Frequently Asked Questions...
Do you need a contract?
We do not require any contractual obligation, but will be willing to create one if it is needed. Most individual homes require only licensing and insurance information for our doctors, which we certainly provide. We don’t want to force your staff to consult us, we are confident that our service is superior, and that once we have proven ourselves to you, you will consult our surgeons simply because our treatment and service are the best.
How much will your services cost?
There is no cost to the facility for our work. We bill Government agencies and Private insurances only.
What if a patient does not have insurance?
Patients who lack insurance are seen gratis. We see our contract with the home as a contract with the entire home, not just some of the patients there. Our surgeons will see every patient that needs to be seen, and, as doctors, we take pride in that commitment.
What kind of treatments will you order?
We coordinate our treatment plan for each patient with the facility. We feel that there are frequently multiple options to treat a wound. Rarely does a wound require treatment outside a facility’s regular formulary.
What is your opinion of adjunctive treatments such as VAC dressings, polarizing light therapy, or hyperbaric oxygen therapy?
While negative pressure dressings (VAC) are very effective, they require optimal circumstances to work the best. Frequently they are used in wounds that are not clean, and exacerbate a wound problem, rather than help. Our surgeons all have extensive experience with these dressings, and will ensure that they are being properly utilized, and that the wound bed is prepared and maintained for this optimal effect.
